Across Southern Africa, herding has long been a school of life. From an early age, boys entrusted with livestock learn patience, discipline, independence, and how to read the landscape around them. Days spent guiding cattle through open fields become lessons in responsibility, courage, and tradition.
For many, the herdboy is also a symbol of humble beginnings — a reminder that greatness can emerge from the simplest of places. Even Nelson Mandela recalled tending cattle and sheep during his childhood in rural Transkei.
